Tree Planting — Edmonton residential project
Locally owned · Edmonton-based

Complete tree planting across Edmonton & region.

NorthCrest is a locally owned and operated Edmonton landscape studio specializing in tree planting across Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Leduc, Spruce Grove, and Fort Saskatchewan.

We take pride in providing professional, architect-led services and craftsmanship for every part of your project — from initial consultation to final walk-through.

The Studio Approach

Trees are an investment in decades of beauty.

Plant the wrong tree in the wrong place and it'll struggle for 10 years before dying. Plant the right species — sized to your space, suited to Alberta — and you'll have a defining landscape feature for 50+ years. We source from premium Prairie nurseries and hand-select every tree before it ships to your site.

What we offer

Built to last. Designed to elevate.

Mature Deciduous Trees

10-25 ft tall instant trees — Schubert chokecherry, Swedish columnar aspen, Brandon elm, ohio buckeye. Hand-selected, root-balled, planted with structural staking for first 2 winters.

Conifers & Evergreens

Year-round structure and privacy — Colorado blue spruce, Black Hills spruce, Limber pine, Mugo pine. Perfect for windbreaks, privacy screens, and architectural focal points.

Ornamental Specimens

Statement trees with unique form, foliage, or flowers — Japanese tree lilac, Amur maple, dwarf weeping willow, ginnala maple. Choice specimens for hero placements.

Shrubs & Foundation Plants

Layered planting design — dogwood, ninebark, hydrangea, weigela, junipers. Massed in groups of 3-5 for the natural, established look from day one.

Every tree we plant comes with deep watering tubes, mulch, and a 1-year establishment warranty. Optional ongoing maintenance: pruning, fertilizing, winter wrap, and pest monitoring.

FAQ

Tree Planting questions, answered.

The most common questions our clients ask. Need more info? Reach out — we're glad to talk.

When is the best time to plant trees in Edmonton?+

Spring (May-early June) and Fall (mid-August to late September) are optimal. We can plant container-grown trees throughout the summer with proper watering. Avoid mid-summer transplants of large balled-and-burlapped trees if possible.

What size trees do you install?+

We install everything from 2-gallon shrubs up to large 25-ft specimen trees (root-balled with a tree spade). For instant impact, most clients choose 8-15 ft mature trees in the $400-1,200 per tree range, installed.

Do you offer a warranty on trees?+

Yes — all planted trees include a 1-year establishment warranty against death due to non-environmental causes (e.g. not your fault). Trees that die from neglect, lawn mower damage, or extreme weather aren't covered, but we'll work with you on replacement pricing.

How do I care for newly planted trees?+

The first 2 years are critical. We provide written care instructions including a watering schedule (typically deep-water 1-2x/week for first 2 summers), mulching guidelines, and pruning recommendations. We also offer ongoing care contracts.

Can you remove existing trees that are unhealthy?+

Yes — we handle tree removal and stump grinding as part of larger landscape projects. For standalone removal work, we partner with certified arborists. Always best to assess if a tree can be saved with proper pruning before removal.

What about ornamental and fruit trees?+

We plant a wide range of ornamental species — flowering crabapple, dwarf cherry, lilac standards, smoke bush trees. Fruit trees that handle Edmonton: hardy apples, Evans cherry, prune plum, saskatoon berries. We'll match to your climate zone and site.
