Complete fire features across Edmonton & region.

NorthCrest is a locally owned and operated Edmonton landscape studio specializing in fire features across Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Leduc, Spruce Grove, and Fort Saskatchewan.

We take pride in providing professional, architect-led services and craftsmanship for every part of your project — from initial consultation to final walk-through.

The Studio Approach

The centrepiece that makes your yard a destination.

In Edmonton, a fire feature isn't a luxury — it's what turns a 4-month patio into an 8-month outdoor room. We design fire pits and fireplaces as architectural anchors: natural stone and premium block construction, proper heat-rated cores, gas lines installed by licensed gasfitters, and seating layouts planned around warmth and conversation.

FAQ

Fire Features questions, answered.

The most common questions our clients ask. Need more info? Reach out — we're glad to talk.

Are fire pits legal in Edmonton?+

Yes — Edmonton allows backyard fire pits that meet bylaw requirements: minimum 3 m from buildings, fences, and property lines, a maximum 1 m flame area, and a mesh screen for wood-burning units. We design every fire feature to comply with current bylaws.

Gas or wood-burning — which should I choose?+

Gas offers instant on/off, no smoke, and no fire-ban restrictions in most cases — ideal for frequent use. Wood-burning gives the classic crackle and cooking capability. Many clients choose gas for convenience; we'll help you weigh both on-site.

How much does a custom fire feature cost?+

Custom stone fire pits typically start around $3,500-$6,000 installed. Gas fire tables with buried lines run $5,000-$10,000, and full outdoor fireplaces start around $15,000. We provide a fixed quote after the site consultation.

Who installs the gas line?+

All gas work is performed by licensed gasfitters and inspected to Alberta code. NorthCrest coordinates the entire process — you deal with one team from design to ignition.

Can a fire feature be added to my existing patio?+

Usually yes. We assess the existing base and surface — gas lines can often be trenched with minimal disruption, and we match or complement your existing pavers and stone.

When can fire features be installed?+

Masonry and paver work runs April through October. Design, permits, and gas planning can happen year-round so your project is first in line for spring.
